Baby Names: Animated Characters

It is time for another baby name poll party! The name Jake won the last poll. With 6 of the other names all tied for second. Interesting. For the next two weeks the theme will be animated characters. Check out the names below and then vote for your favorite in the poll to the side! Also please remember that there are actually names on the list that Ross and I are considering and we want to see how well they do. Party! So vote well! The names are in alphabetical order, enjoy. :)

1. Doug
Do you remember that awesome Saturday morning cartoon, Doug? I sure do. I loved that show! And so did Ross. So naturally, Doug had to make it onto the list of animated characters' names. He is a fun character who enjoys hanging out with his friends Skeeter and Patty Mayonaise. My son will have some awesome friends, too.

2. Flynn
Everyone knows and loves Flynn Rider! From the movie, Tangled, he's the handsomest animated character I've ever seen. And he marries a princess. Which is pretty cool. Not to mention that smoulder of his that he can use to make a woman's heart melt. ;) Naturally, my son will be a ladies man.

3. Gaston
Now if we are looking for the most manly name in the world, Gaston would probably win. Gaston comes from the Disney classic, Beauty and the Beast. As said in the song he sings, every last inch of him is covered with hair. Not sure how I would feel about a hairy son, but it is quite manly I guess. And I would be ok having a very manly son.

4. Gus
Coming from another Disney classic, Cinderella, Gus is just a cute little mouse. My favorite line of his: "Duh... Happy Birt-day!" Love it! He may not be very smart, but he sure is a friendly and happy little dude. And he loves food. I hope my son likes the food I cook. He had better.

5. Hamilton
If my son turns out being anything like me, he will also be similar to this lovable little squirrel, Hammy. This character comes from one of my favorite animated films, Over the Hedge. Don't give him caffeine. Just like you should not give me caffeine. I do love this squirrel, though. He makes me laugh, just as my son will.

6. Hudson
As in, Doc Hudson from the Disney/Pixar film, Cars. This old race car can be a grouch, but he means well. He loves his friends and does everything he can to keep them safe. Also, he has three Piston Cups! (He did what in his cup?) And I would not complain if my son grew up to be a doctor. That would me most impressive, indeed.

7. Jasper
This hilarious character comes from 101 Dalmatians. That movie was one of my favorites growing up because it has a lot of dogs in it, and we all know how much I love dogs. Jasper is always found with his companion, Horace, who's name will be on a different list, just to give you a heads up. These two characters are not to bright and drive an old beaten up car. But Jasper gets to tell Cruela DeVil to shut up at the end. Way to go, Jasper!

8. Jim
This would be Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet, which is another of my favorite animated films. (Yes, I have a lot of them.) He's a rambunctious youth because his dad left when he was a kid. Poor guy. But in the head he learns the value of hard work and using your talents to save the lives of your friends. Not too shabby. I would not be ashamed to have a kid like Jim Hawkins.

9. Megamind
Megamind: "incredibly handsome super-genius and master of all villainy." From his self-titled film, Megamind is freaking hilarious. It is a Ross and Melanie favorite for sure. We love this movie! Although Megamind begins as a bad guy, he has a good heart and learns that anyone can be a hero in the end. I would be ok with a super-genius son, though probably not if he was a master of all villainy.

10. Navine
This would be Prince Navine from the Princess and the Frog. And it was practically impossible to find a good picture of him not as a frog, so there he is as a frog. He's a cocky man who loves to party and have fun. But he learns how to mince and work hard to accomplish goals. Not to mention that he is handsome, and my son will be very handsome.

So there you have it! Ten more names to vote for. Voting will go for two weeks, the last day to vote being February 11th. Have a wonderful day!

Birthday Celebration

So my birthday was like a week and a half ago. And it was awesome. My family came up and we had quite the celebration.

Leslie, my dearest little sister, made me this freaking awesome cake. She is so talented.

Here's me with all the awesome gifts my family brought me. I do enjoy being spoiled, yes, yes I do.

My siblings and Dad designed these pictures and cut out the fabric and everything. Then my mom sewed them onto the onesies. Naturally, Daniel did a picture of Perry the Platypus.

Me on my birthday. Ross and I went to Arby's because it is my favorite fast food place. And it is pretty cheap. And we are cheap people. :)

On my birthday Ross let me pick out a new rifle online and he ordered it for me. It came in the mail today! I'm excited to spin it like crazy. It will be most spectacular. :)

Also, I got an adorable pet fish. He is about an inch long right now. I named him Minion after the fish from Megamind. Ross and I love that movie. And Minion is quite the adorable little fish.

Baby Names: Famous Actors

So for the third trimester of my pregnancy, I will be making a post every two weeks with baby boy names. There are going to be different themes with each one. I will also make a poll on the right side of the blog. Please vote for your favorite name. Also, consider this, there are ten names on each list. A few of the names on each list are names that Ross and I are actually considering. This means that your opinions are important to us. However, also be aware that we will make our own decision on a name, but are also going to be appreciative of outside input to help us decide. We won't tell you what names on each list we are thinking of, just to make it a little more fun. So yes. We just want to see how well those names do.
For the next two weeks the baby name list of ten will come from names of famous actors. Or actors who have nice names that Ross and I like. Pretty much yeah. So without further ado, here we go, names in alphabetical order:

1. Chris
Like Chris Evans! This guy is my favorite super hero actor. He is in Fantastic Four, where he is the Human Torch. He's hot both ways in that movie. He also plays Captain America in that new movie. It was good. I'm excited to see Captain America again in The Avengers, which comes out later this year. If I name my son after him, then he would probably be a super hero one day. :)

2. Heath
Heath Ledger is dead. And that is so sad. He was a very beautiful man. He was great in A Knight's Tale, and pretty much amazingly spectacular with his role as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Totally a creepy role, but he did it most magnificently.

3. Hugh
As in Hugh Jackman. Most commonly known for his role as Wolverine in X-men. Which is a pretty awesome character. He's been in a variety of films throughout the years. I really like him as an actor. He's also very muscular. Perhaps if I name my son Hugh, he will grow up to be totally ripped. That would be awesome. I'd be one proud mama!

4. Jake
Like Jake Gyllenhaal. Another of my favorite actors, but mostly just because he is fair to look upon. But he does a really good job in Source Code. That was a really good movie.

5. Jason
As in Jason Statham. He's an action hero actor. And he's pretty hard core. My favorite would be him playing Handsome Rob in the Italian Job. yes, a very good movie. Anyway, this guy is just hard core. It was pretty much impossible to find a good picture of him smiling. So if I name my son after him, he'd be one pretty hard core dude.

6. Jude
Jude Law, or Mr. Watson from Sherlock Holmes. He's a pretty good actor, but mostly he's just good looking. So my son would be good looking if I named him Jude. Most likely anyway.

7. Michael
Like Michael Caine, who is one of my most all time favorite actors. Ross really likes this guy, too. He is quite awesome, mostly known for playing well-to-do gentlemen. Very classy folk. And he has a freaking awesome accent. I would not be ashamed to name my son after this guy.

8. Patrick
Such as Patrick Dempsey. Photographed here as Dr. McDreamy from Grey's Anatomy where he is a brain surgeon. He is also in one of my all time favorite Disney movies, Enchanted. He's also quite the stud muffin, perhaps my son will also be so studly if I name him Patrick.

9. Sean
As in Sean Connery, the suave original James Bond. And also Indiana Jones's dad. He's just such an awesome guy, his name had to make it onto the list. If I name my son after this famous guy, he'll probably have a cool accent and be really good at shooting a gun. Yup.

10. Tom
Like Tom Cruiz. I had a dream about Tom Cruiz the other night. And no, he did not take my breath away. He was a game show host. In my dream. Anyway, this actor is in movies such as Top Gun, Mission Impossible, Knight and Day, and other such action flicks.

And there we go. Please vote for your favorite name in the poll to the right! Go team!!!

Third Trimester!!!

So tomorrow marks the day that I will enter the third trimester of my pregnancy. I am so excited! Not so much excited to get even bigger than I already am, but excited to be done with this pregnancy. Let me tell you, pregnancy is a beast! Yes, yes it is. But I am happy to have a little baby around.
It is amazing to me how much happiness knowing that I will be bringing a new life into the world brings to me. It is amazing. I know the little boy isn't here yet, but I just really feel peaceful when I know that I'm going to have a baby. I know that this is the purpose of life, to live righteously and create new little bodies for God's children. It makes me very joyful when I feel my little man kicking around inside of me. Sometimes it gets pretty uncomfortable, but just knowing that there is a living baby inside, that Ross and I created, is a wonderful feeling. I have to say that it is probably the most wonderful feeling I've felt. I strongly believe that our Heavenly Father truly has commanded us to "multiply and replenish the Earth." No doubt about it. Even though I'm not officially a parent yet, I firmly believe that it is an outstanding experience that everyone should have.
I am so excited to welcome my new little boy to the family. I was kind of shocked when I realized that technically I could have the baby any day now, and he would most likely survive. I really hope he doesn't come early, because that would be scary and very difficult. But if he does come early, everything will be alright. I love my little boy and I am so excited to meet him in three-ish months!

CHOP!!!

My hair has been getting really really long. I was going to grow it out and sell it, then I got pregnant, and now it is just driving me crazy. Or it was. I got a haircut this morning and now it is all gone! Just kidding, I am not bald, but it is really short now. I love it! It is so nice not to have my long hair getting in the way all the time. And here's a before and after picture:

Goodbye Chuck

So Ross and I have been discussing for a while what it is we were going to do with our guinea pig once the baby came. Seeing as Chuck is really noisy, especially late at night and early in the morning, we didn't really want him around when the baby got here. We also are in need of a little more space to fit the baby and his supplies. Ya, babies need lots of stuff. Sheesh. So we came to the conclusion that we would sell Chuck.
Today I put him up on KSL.com. I didn't really think he would sell that fast, so I thought I'd put him up now. Ya, three hours after I posted the ad I got a call. These people were from a small town I'd never heard of that is by Tremonton. They were in Logan and wanted to come and see Chuck. I said, 'Sure!' so they came by. It was a teenage girl who is deaf who wanted Chuck. Her foster mom and interpreter/neighbor came along. They were really nice people. I'm really happy that Chuck is so well behaved. I let the girl hold him and he just cuddled up against her and squeaked his little heart out. It was really cute. She really liked him because he was so calm. Turns out they had just been to PetsMart and the baby guinea pigs were nuts and wouldn't hold still. I'm so proud of my little Chuck. Well, they loved him. I sold them him, his cage, and all his supplies, as well as what we had left of his food and treats all for 25 bucks. I think that was pretty awesome. They were excited to get such a good deal because just the guinea pigs at PetsMart are 35 bucks. Anyway, they paid for him and took him away.
I'm sort of sad about it, I'm gonna miss that little rodent. I did not expect him to be gone so soon, but he's gonna get a whole lot of attention. I was also worried when the baby came that Chuck would just not get any attention at all, but he will be very loved in his new home. He's a good little guinea pig and I hope he has a wonderful life with his new owners. I sure am gonna miss his little squeaks though.
Now I'm trying to talk Ross into letting me get a goldfish....

Birthday List 2012!!!

My birthday is coming! Hip hip hooray! I think that my birthday is kind of my favorite day in the whole year. Probably because it is awesome. My birthday lands on a Tuesday this year. It will rock. I decided to put together a birthday list in case any of you want to get me something totally awesome!!! Or just something. ;) Mostly I just like thinking about things that I want. I should stop being such a covetous person... I'll work on that....

1. iTunes Gift Card
I freaking love music. I am slightly obsessed with it. An iTunes gift card would basically give me money to buy music, which would be totally hard core. I LOVE iTunes gift cards.

2. Maternity Support Belt
My back is killing me. Yes, thanks little son of mine. I've heard really good things about this one particular belt from Target. It's only available online. Here's the link to it if you want to order me one: http://www.target.com/p/Gabrialla-Medium-Support-Elastic-Maternity-Belt-With-Pocket-Assorted-Colors/-/A-13788543 I would probably need a size Medium.

3. A Cocomotion

These things are freaking amazing. They make hot chocolate. And it is the best hot chocolate EVER! I've always wanted one. So it would be an excellent choice of a gift for me.

4. Titanic DVD
This movie was on my list last year as well. I freaking love this movie. It is probably the best movie I have ever seen in my life. And I want to own it. Boo ya.

5. Star Wars Original Trilogy DVD
I have the prequel trilogy, but not the original! What's up with that? The picture there is of the same type of the prequel ones that I have. Unfortunately, I can't find them cheap anywhere, and that really sucks. I love these movies.

6. Brother Bear DVD
One of my favorite Disney movies of all time!!! It is wonderful, and I think I need it for my collection. And soon I'll have a kid, and I want him to get to watch awesome good Disney movies, so we'll need this one eventually for sure.

7. Moloka'i by Alan Brennert
My sister Sarah let me borrow her copy of this book last year. I read it. And it was amazing. So amazing, in fact, that I want to add it to my collection of books. One day I'm gonna have a freaking awesome library full of great books. Until then, I just have to collect the books one at a time. :)

8. East by Edith Pattou
This is one of my favorite books of all time. I've read it three times, I think. It is amazing. I strongly recommend it. But what's this? I don't own it! Ridiculous. I think I need this one for shizzle for my library.

9. A Real Live Pikachu
If you can accomplish that, you'll pretty much be my best friend forever. Ross thinks I'm ridiculous, but I am not afraid to say that I am still a Pokemon Master. Hard core. I have dreams all the time with Pokemon in them, and they are fantastic. Sometimes, a lot of the time, I wish Pokemon was real. Oh, well.

10. Nintendo 3DS, Blue
I want one of these so bad. I figure it will be nice to have something that I love to do around when the baby is here and sleeping and I really just need a break or something. Not gonna lie, Pokemon battles are a great way to vent out energy. That or fighting games, which are pretty much awesome. :)

Well, that's all I'll put up here. 10 things isn't too bad. Ya, I'll be 22 on the 17th. Crazy stuff to think about. I really don't feel like I'm that old at all. And now I'm gonna be having a kid. Oh, in 10 days I will start my third trimester. Freaky! But also exciting. Woot! I'm also happy because I got the pictures to be able to post again. Which is excellent news indeed!

2011 Book List

So last year, meaning 2010, my awesome sister, Sarah, read 100 books in the year. I decided that was a pretty awesome goal and I would try it out. I almost made it! Not really. I read 27 books. :) When I realized about in June there was no way I could make it to 100, I decided just to expand my reading horizons and re-read a bunch of books while throwing in a bunch of new one's as well. So here's the list in order. Books with stars in front are books I read for the first time.
1.Eragon by Christopher Paolini
2. Eldest by Christopher Paolini
3. Brisingr by Christopher Paolini
4. *The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne (most boring book I've ever read)
5. *Moloka'I by Alan Brennert
6. *Treasure Island by Robert Louis Stevenson (another dull book)
7. *Beyonders by Brandon Mull
8. *Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery
9. Just Listen by Sarah Dessen
10. *Until We Meet Again by Michael Korenblit
11. *Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen
12. *Promise of the Wolves by Dorothy Hearst
13. Holes by Louis Sachar
14. A Single Shard by Linda Sue Park
15. *Dragon Rider by Cornelia Funke
16. Along for the Ride by Sarah Dessen
17. Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
18. New Moon by Stephanie Meyer
19. Eclipse by Stephanie Meyer
20. Breaking Dawn by Stephanie Meyer
21. *The Last Lecture by Randy Pauche (everyone should read this)
22. *Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card
23. *Inheritance by Christopher Paolini
24. *The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
25. *Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
26. *Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
27. Time and Eternity by E. M. Tippetts
Not too bad of a list. I'm proud of myself. My goal this year is to read at least 28 books to make a new record. I have a long list of books to read, and most of them I haven't read before. But I will still read books I have read, but didn't read in the year 2011. Hooray for 2012! Happy new year!
