Names For Baby #2: Nice Names in General

With the last poll of names that go well with Nigel, the name Vincent won. Which is good because I love that name, but bad because Ross hates it. This is how most of the names we have discussed go. One of us loves the name while the other does not.
Here is another poll of simple generic names that we like. This may be the last poll because I feel that the baby will be coming closer to Christmas than his due date. And that is ok. I am so uncomfortable and ready to be done with this pregnancy. And also I am excited to have another baby in the house. Here's the list of names with their origins and meanings:

1. Shawn
English
God is Gracious

2. Austin
English
Great

3. Sawyer
English

4. Landon
English

5. Hudson
English

6. Tyler

7. Nathan

Please vote for two names that you like best in the poll off to the right!

Names for Baby #2: Disney Characters

So it is really hard to do a blog post when you don't have the internet. Thus this one is late. But hopefully you will enjoy it anyway.
The winning name from the last poll was Ethan. It won by a lot. This next two weeks the poll will be using names from male Disney characters. Here's the names with also a quote from the character. I do love me some good movie quotes.
Feel free to vote for two names if you would like, but please no more than that. Here's the list!

1. Gaston
From Beauty and the Beast. Quite the manly man he is.
"And every last inch of me's covered with hair!"

2. Prince Naveen of Maldonia
From The Princess and the Frog. He is a lady charmer who loves jazz music.
"You know, if you are going to let every little thing bother you, it is going to be a very long night!"

3. Prince Edward of Andalasia
From the movie Enchanted. He is heroic and very princely. He loves to sing.
"Giselle!!" (followed by jumping from a bridge and beginning a song and getting run over by bicyclists.)

4. William Turner
From Pirates of the Caribbean. He is heroic and honorable.
"I practice 3 hours a day so when I meet a pirate, I can kill it!"

5. Fix It Felix
From the movie Wreck it Ralph. He is a happy individual with very clean language. He can fix anything and always wants to help.
"She gives me the honeyglows something awful."

6. Flynn Rider
From Tangled. He is a handsome thief who is clever and sarcastic. I would probably get along well with him.
"This is kind of an off day for me. This usually works."

7. Prince Phillip

From Sleeping Beauty. I'm pretty sure he gets way more screen time than Princess Aurora. He is a heroic prince who fights a dragon to save his woman.
"But we've met before! Once upon a dream!"

8. Jack Sparrow
Another from Pirates of the Caribbean. He is witty, adventurous, and loves gold. He is a pirate, after all.
"Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid."

There's the list! I hope you enjoy voting for another baby name for my next boy!

Pregnancy #2

So I am now 26 weeks pregnant. This means that in one week I will be in my third trimester of this pregnancy. Hooray! I'm excited to have another little baby.
This pregnancy has been so different than when I was pregnant with Nigel. Here is a list of differences that there have been between the two pregnancies:

1. With Nigel I was SO sick through my first trimester and most of my second. This one I've been nauseated a lot, but haven't really thrown up much. Which has been nice.
2. When I was pregnant with Nigel I was gaining weight like crazy. At the end of my pregnancy I had gained a little over 60 pounds. Gross. This time, my weight gain has been much slower and more manageable. This pleases me greatly.
3. Along with gaining a ton of weight with Nigel, I was extremely bloated from the middle of my second trimester. My face was all huge and gross. This time, I have noticed a little bloating in my feet, but not much in my face or anywhere else yet. It has been really nice. I look so much cuter this pregnancy.
4. During my Nigel pregnancy I never really noticed having braxton hicks contractions, or any other contractions, all the way up until I was actually in labor. And labor lasted 28 hours. Yikes. This time, I've been having those braxton hicks contractions a ton. And I can feel them. They don't hurt, thank goodness, but they are uncomfortable for sure.

I really thought early on in my pregnancy that I was going to have a girl because it was so different from my last pregnancy. Everyone else agreed with me. When we got the ultra sound and it was a boy, I was so excited! It just felt so right. I am way excited to have another little boy and Nigel is going to be such a great big brother!
Here are some of the 3-D images of this little boy that we got at the ultra sound a month and a half ago. He wouldn't really let us see his face much, and these were the only shots of his little face. There was some gunk on his cheek that Ross and I said made him look like he had Benedict Cumberbatch cheekbones. It is so fun to be able to see the little dude on that screen! So excited to meet him in person!

Baby Name for Baby #2: Action Heroes

The winner of the last poll was the name Henry, as taken from my grandfather.
This next poll will use names of heroes in action movies. I am a huge fan of action films and am pretty excited to see how the names in this group do when compared against each other. You may vote for two names, but please don't vote for more than that. And again, there are names here that we are really considering along with some that we really are not. The name we would use is in bold. I hope you enjoy this poll! Another one will be in two more weeks!

1. Handsome Rob
from the movie The Italian Job, which is one of mine and Ross' favorite movies, and is played by Jason Statham.

2. Jake Sully
from the movie Avatar, which is NOT about the last airbender, but is still a good movie.

3. Sherlock Holmes
when as played by Robert Downy Jr. Those are action films for sure. And they are awesome.

4. Ethan Hunt
from the Mission Impossible movies, is played by Tom Cruise. I love these movies.

5. Jason Bourne
from the Bourne series, played by Matt Damon. These movies are super intense.

6. Rafe McCawley
is from Pearl Harbor and is played by Ben Affleck. This is another of mine and Ross' favorite movies to watch. It is pretty spectacular.

7. James Bond
who pretty much everyone knows as the most action-est of action heroes. My father loves these movies. He has been played by many actors and has tons of movies. He's pretty popular.

8. Peter Quill
who is the leading man of the Guardians of the Galaxy and is played by Chris Pratt. He is Star Lord! Ross and I saw this movie the day before it officially came out and we LOVED it. A super fun movie indeed.

Name Poll for Bateman Baby #2: Family Names

With the super hero names poll, Peter Parker was in first the entire length until the very end. Bruce Wayne pulled forward and won the super hero name poll! I will use that name again later in the final poll in a couple of months.
This set of two weeks the baby names will be those coming from ancestors on my side and on Ross's side of the family. There are names here that we are really considering using, and some that we are not. We want to see how the names we like compare popularity-wise with other family names. We still haven't chosen a name, and have a pretty hefty list of names that we like. Hopefully we can narrow down that list by the end of my pregnancy thanks to votes by my awesome readers. ;) The names we are using for the poll are bolded, but I thought it would be important to include the full names as they are ancestors and some may be curious.

1. Norman Bennion Bateman
This is Ross's paternal grandfather. He is sealed to Lark Bateman, who is still alive and kicking at 97 years old. It is cool to know her. He was born and raised in Bloomington, ID. He lived there his whole life and is buried in the Boomington cemetary.

2. Alfred Bateman
Another from Ross's paternal side. This man is the grandfather of Norman, who was mentioned above. He was born in Essex, England and when he was 17 moved all the way to Evanston, WY to be with his brother. He later moved to Bloomington, ID where he homesteaded a place and built a cabin.

3. Elam Harnish Huber
On Ross's maternal side, this is his great-great-grandfather. There wasn't a lot of information on him, but he was born and died in Pennsylvania. He lived there his whole life.

4. Thomas Davis Adams
Another of Ross's maternal ancestors, another great-great-grandfather. He was born in Radnor, Wales. Again, I didn't find much info on this man, but he died in Pennsylvania. As I'm sure you are seeing, my mother-in-law is from Pennsylvania.

5. Henry W Bredthauer
This is my paternal grandfather. He was a really awesome man. He was born in Heuersen, Germany and his family immigrated to the United States when he was a baby. He lived in Bountiful, UT the entire time that I knew him. He had a fantastic sense of humor and a firm belief in hard work.

6. Johann Heinrich Bredthauer
My paternal great-great-great-grandfather lived his whole life in Germany. There wasn't a lot of information on him, probably because he lived so long ago. But he does have a pretty sweet name.

7. Samuel Park, Jr.
Another of my great-great-great-grandfathers, this one was my maternal grandma's great-grandpa. I couldn't get the picture to download, but he had a pretty sweet beard. He was born in Newtonstewart, Ireland and died in Tooele, UT.

8. Charles Horace Pitt
This is my maternal grandpa and he is still living. He is a soft-spoken man and I have a lot of respect for him. He is a hard worker and is a very loving and giving guy. I am really happy that I know him and that he is still around. He is a cool guy.

So there are some family names for you all to vote for! Sorry, I was going to let people vote for more than one name, but I forgot. And now since people have already voted, you only get to vote for one name.

Baby Names for My Second Son: Super Heroes

I am pretty excited to have another little boy running around, though he won't be running for a while, but it will be nice to have another baby in the house in a few months. However, Ross and I are really struggling to agree on a name for this little lad. There are names that I like, but Ross does not. There are names that Ross likes, but I do not. So basically, we have no idea what this little man's name will be. And thus, it is time to do a bunch of polls every couple of weeks with a bunch of baby names so help us decide on a name!
I will be starting off with a list of super hero names in honor of Salt Lake Comic Con 2014 which will be happening next weekend. And yes, there are names on this list we are considering, either as a first or middle name. Also make sure that you vote in the poll to the right side of my blog! Feel free to vote for 2 names, but please don't vote for more than that.

1. Bruce Wayne

2. Peter Parker

3. Steve Rogers

4. Tony Stark

5. Clark Kent

6. Charles Xavier

7. Clint Barton

8. Thor

So there you have it! Enjoy voting for a SUPER baby name for my next son!

A Synopsis of Summer

Obviously I have not been doing well at posting to my blog these past few months. So much has been going on and I just haven't really had the enthusiasm to post anything. So here is a quick summary of how this past summer has gone.
In June Nigel and I went up to McKall Idaho with my mom and dad and siblings.
Nigel and his cousin Rachel painting pictures.
Nigel and Rachel had a lot of fun playing in the sand at the lake, which was freezing cold so we didn't get in.
We had fun on jet skis even though the splashing water on our legs was only 48 degrees. Nigel loved the jet ski and fell asleep on it.

For the 4th of July weekend our family went up to Bloomington, ID for the 4th and then headed up to Afton, WY for a few days.
Nigel stealing food from Lark's plate. He was so cute that nobody cared.
We went to a lake, which was also quite cold, but Nigel just had fun playing with his cousins.
Swimming in Grandma and Grandpa Bateman's little pool. Nigel had a lot of fun with it.
For Pioneer Day weekend our family went camping with Ross's family. It was a lot of fun. They hiked up to a lake, 6 miles there and back, which I did not participate in.
Nigel and I are super adorable in our sunglasses. Unfortunately, Nigel broke my sunglasses at the end of this trip.
Nigel and Ross all ready for the hike! What manly men I have!
Nigel and his cousin, Emerson. Turns out that Nigel REALLY likes to spend time with his cousins. This pleases me.

Nigel enjoyed spending time with me outside while I worked on choreography for the USU color guard.
We went boating with  my parents and a bunch of my aunts and uncles and cousins. Good think Uncle Paul is so nice to let us use his boat.
This was Ross's second time water skiing and he got up for a good 3 minutes! Way to be, Ross!
Nigel was afraid of the water, but was quite content on the beach eating snacks provided by his grandparents.
It was a busy and fun summer for us. It was been a little rough and exhausting for me because I am pregnant, but still just a ton of fun. Also, we found out a week ago the gender of the baby!
Unlike Nigel who crossed his legs when it was time to find the gender, this little man opened his legs and showed off his manliness. We are so excited to have another boy!!!

The Dinosaur Park

A couple of weeks ago Nigel and I got to go to the Dinosaur Park in Ogden with my mom and her preschool kids. Nigel loved seeing the dinosaurs, but was afraid of them so would keep his distance. He is a fun boy. He refused to stay in his stroller, so we just kind of meandered around on our own and explored. It was a lot of fun. Here's pictures from the event.
Excited to see some dinosaurs!
Nigel was very fascinated with the dinosaur fossils.
I also thought they were very cool. There was one point where I wanted to be a paleontologist.
A T-Rex! The preschool kids loved this one best.
Time for some lunch before we walk the park!
There is a triceratops behind me, but Nigel would not get close enough for a picture.
Nigel would not get any closer to this dinosaur. He was scared when I stepped away to get a picture.
Walking along a little adventure trail or something.
Checking out an ankylosaurus.
Nigel was finally figuring out that it was ok to get up against the fence and look at the dinos.
The water dinosaurs were pretty cool.
Nigel watching some bigger kids digging up fossils.
Nigel decided to join them. He thought it was awesome to play in the sand.
A kind young boy shared his brush with Nigel, who used it as a shovel of sorts.
Nigel preferred to just let the sand flow through his hands and fingers.
Nigel really liked this little dinosaur.
Gonna go down the slide! He was a little scared of it, but kept wanting to go down it.
Nigel thought this frog on the playground was pretty cool.
It was a fun time together and we were both exhausted at the end. So we took some nice naps when we got home.
