Crimson Trail Hike

Ross, Nigel, and I went on a wonderful hike on the 31st of May. Ross didn't have anything going on in the afternoon, so we decided to hike. This was a great opportunity to use the baby back-pack that we got for Christmas when I was pregnant with Nigel. He hadn't used it yet. Last summer we used the front carrier because he was still so small. So this summer, we used the big pack. It was awesome.
We hiked the Crimson Trail up Logan Canyon. This trail is 3 miles long, one way, and goes up 1000 feet. We went up really steep switch-backs to get to the ridge and then had a beautiful hike that was mostly level for a couple miles. It was beautiful. Then we had to go back down 1000 feet of steep switch-backs. To connect back where we started, we took the Riverside Nature Trail. This was about 1 mile and very beautiful.
Nigel loved pointing at the different trees and plants and butterflies we saw. He sure enjoyed it. Ross and I are really out of shape, and it was hard getting to the top, but we made it. And it was totally worth it. That was an amazing hike.
Here's a whole bunch of pictures from the hike. I know there are a lot, but it was just so fun! Enjoy!
Nigel, all set to go!
Hiking for a long time to find the actual trailhead.
So beautiful! And only about halfway up.
Hey, look! The wind caves were across the valley from us.
Made it to the top. Such wonderful views!
Looking down the canyon to Cache Valley.
Happy family photo!
Taking a break to stretch Nigel's legs and eat some snacks.
I do love that son of mine!
Hey, Nigel! Let me get a picture of you!
The lovely river.
I thought this was gorgeous. Such a wonderful trail along the river.
Nigel checking out the water.
A lovely stream at the end of our adventure.
Ross resting his feet. Nigel loved watching the water flow and splash around rocks.

  1. That is a really good hike. Even though it is tough, the views are unparalleled. I'm glad you guys went out for a hike! We need to get a bigger backpack.
